Non Pharmacological treatment
- Good sleep hygiene and habits
- sleep in a quiet, comfortable and cool environment
- sticking to a regular sleep pattern - going to bed late and waking up late
- avoid caffeine and alcohol consumption before going to bed (1)
- regular moderate exercise (excessive exercise may exacerbate symptoms) (2)
- abstinence from caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol (2)
- during an attack, following methods may be helpful
- walking and stretching
- bathing in hot or cold water
- relaxation exercises
- mental distraction at times of rest
- massaging affected limbs (1,2)
