Aetiology
Possible causes of tics include:
- idiopathic, occurring typically in up to 20% of boys between ages 8 and 15
- secondary to drugs
- post encephalitis lethargica
- post-traumatic
- part of Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome
- association with anxiety
- abetalipoproteinaemia
