General inspection
General inspection should include:
- inspection of the patient whist they are lying in bed - making sure the legs and thighs are entirely exposed
- inspection for fasciculations - tapping calves and quadriceps if none are seen, muscle wasting - feel for wasting of the anterior tibial muscles
