Aetiology
Internuclear ophthalmoplegia may be caused by:
- multiple sclerosis
- stroke e.g. basilar artery stroke
- brain stem tumours
- encephalitis
- Wernicke's encephalopathy
- meningovascular syphilis
A pseudo-internuclear ophthalmoplegia may be caused by myasthenia gravis.
