Haloperidol

Haloperidol is a neuroleptic butyrophenone that is of particular value in manic patients and in organic or confusional psychoses. Doses - oral or i.m. - 1.5 to 20 mg/day in divided doses. In severe mania higher doses are used up to 100 mg/day. There is now a depot preparation available - Haldol.

Haloperidol may also be used to treat severe tics, e.g. in Gilles de la Tourette syndrome.
