Pathology
The features of cylindroma include:
- islands of epithelial cells:
- small cells at periphery in surrounding layer
- larger cells with light-staining nuclei at centre
- occasional irregular ductal cells
- a surrounding layer of amorphous hyaline ground substance:
- thought to be derived from the basal lamina
- may be taken up into some of the epithelial cells
