Aetiology
The causes of cortical blindness include:
- embolic or thrombotic occlusion of the posterior cerebral arteries
- hypoxic or ischaemic encephalopathy
- Creutzfeld-Jakob disease
- progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy
- bilateral infiltrating tumours e.g. glioma
