Miscellaneous features of MS include:

  • bladder dysfunction:
    • disinhibition of detrusor muscle - produces a combination of urgency and incontinence. The severe physical disabilities may prevent patient from reaching the lavatory in time.
    • complete urinary retention is often an early feature
    • retention associated with urinary tract infection - the resulting cystitis exacerbates the urgency and incontinence, and so a vicious cycle occurs
  • impotence
  • Uhthoff's phenomenon
  • epilepsy
  • facial myokymia
  • in advanced disease - euphoria or depression, social disinhibition, impaired memory, frank dementia
