Therapy with interferon beta is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include:

  • abnormal liver function tests
  • injection site pain
  • fatigue
  • allergic reaction
  • cardiac arrhythmia
  • allergic reaction
  • headache
  • nausea
  • 'flu-like syndrome

Interferon-beta also increases the risk of bone marrow suppression, pancreatitis, acute liver failure, and injection site reactions, including infection and necrosis.
