Complications
Complications of the surgical treatment of radial dysplasia include:
- wound margin necrosis
- K wire breakage or migration
- wrist stiffness, particularly limited extension and ulnar deviation
- wrist instability
- recurrent deformity, particularly carpal subluxation
- growth arrest of ulna due to damage to the ulna epiphysis; procedures such as centralization can reduce ulnar growth potential when compared to a non-operated limb and have been suggested to be due to increased loading pressure on the distal end of the ulna
