Classification of severity of Dupuytren's contracture

Dupuytren's disease can be classified according to the severity:

  • mild
    • no functional problem
    • no contractures
    • mild meta-carpo phalangeal joint contracture only (<30 degrees)
  • moderate
    • notable functional problem
    • or moderate meta-carpo phalangeal joint contracture (between 30 and 60 degrees)
    • moderate proximal inter phalangeal joint contracture (<30 degrees)
    • first web contractures
  • severe
    • severe contractures of both metacarpo phalangeal joint (>60 degrees), joint and proximal inter phalangeal joint (>30 degrees)
