Treatment of psittacosis
Treatment of psittacosis is with tetracyclines, for example chlortetracycline or oxytetracycline. These are given in larger doses until the fever subsides, and then in smaller doses until at least 7 days after defervescence to avoid relapse.
An alternative antibiotic is erythromycin.
