Authoring team

The differential diagnosis of necrotising fasciitis includes:

  • erysipelas
  • cellulitis
  • myositis
  • impetigo
  • pyoderma gangrenosum

In comparison to the early stages of necrotizing fasciitis, all may have greater discolouration of skin, often with a clear margin of progression.
