  • this is the commonest cause of chlamydial pneumonia in adults
  • characterised by biphasic illness:
    • initially upper respiratory illness - e.g. pharyngitis, otitis media
    • then a pneumonia may develop
  • diagnosis via Chlamydia serology
  • treatment:
    • tetracycline
