Disease caused by immunosuppression
In the late stages of HIV infection (AIDS) immunosuppression results in opportunistic infections and neoplasms of the nervous system.
The common complications include:
- cerebral toxoplasmosis
- progressive multifocal leucoencephalopathy
- primary CNS lymphoma
- CMV encephalitis
- CMV polyradiculitis
- CMV mononeuritis multiplex
