Erythromelalgia

Erythromelalgia, also known as erythermalgia, is rare condition characterised by burning pain and redness of the extremities

  • relapses are episodic, often worse in the summer
  • may be primary or secondary to systemic disorders such as diabetes, collagen vascular disorders, or myeloproliferative disorders such as polycythemia vera or essential thrombocytosis (1)
  • may be associated with hypertension
