- consist of Langerhans’ and interdigitating cells
- Langerhans cell found in the limbus, skin
- Interdigitating cell found in T cell areas in lymph nodes
- form an important bridge between innate and adaptive immunity, as the cells to present the antigenic peptide to the T helper cell (adaptive immunity)
- known as professional antigen presenting cells (APCs)
