Vulval sensitivity dermatitis
A sensitivity dermatitis may develop in response to many agents which are applied to the vulva. These include:
- soap powder
- deodorants
- ointments
- condoms and spermicides
Treatment:
- withdraw any agent that may be implicated in the reaction
- apply a steroid ointment
- stop scratching - may require a short course of sedative taken at night
