This describes an allergic or direct reaction to various chemicals contained in douches, deodorants, bath salts, medications and biological washing powders, or to chemicals used in barrier condoms.
Soreness is the principal complaint; discharge is usually relatively minor. On examination, the vagina looks red and inflamed.
Treatment is directed towards the precipitating agent.
