Usual oral maintenance dose

Bisoprolol

2.5-10 mg o.d.

Atenolol

25-100 mg o.d.

Propranolol

10-40 mg t.i.d.

Carvedilol

3.125-25 mg b.i.d.

Notes:

  • beta-1 selective blockers (e.g. bisoprolol) in small doses should be considered as an alternative for ventricular rate control in patients with chronic lung disease (1)
