Treatment in this disease is supportive. The mainstay of treatment is the use of analgesics, bed rest and maintenance of fluid and electrolyte balance. Aspirin and other anticoagulants should be avoided (1)

Dialysis may be required if renal failure develops, and transfusions of fresh blood or plasma may be necessary to control severe bleeding disorders.
