  • symptoms of neurotoxicity:
    • headache, nausea, dizziness, ataxia, diplopia
    • reported when lamotrigine is added to carbamazepine
    • symptoms resolve when the dose of either drug is reduced

  • sodium valproate:
    • inhibits the elimination of lamotrigine

  • enzyme-inducing anticonvulsants:
    • carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbitone, primidone
    • reduce the half-life of lamotrigine to around 15 hours
