Skin thermoreceptors

Skin thermoreceptors are divided into two main groups, cold and warm receptors. Cold receptors are more abundant; this is possibly an adaptation to stop hypothermia.

They are the free endings of afferent A-delta and C fibres which originate predominantly in the dermis and pass synapse in the posterior part of the associated spinal cord segment.
