Special situations
There are several special defibrillation scenarios:
- in the rare circumstance where a child must be defibrillated the energy is 2 Joules per kilo, or 1 Joule per pound.
- in patients with internal pacemakers the paddles should be at least 12 cm - 5 inches - from the box. External pacemakers should be disconnected.
