Pharmacokinetic variation
Pharmacokinetic variations in inducing drug side effects include:
- pharmacogenetic variation - genetic abnormalities
- hepatic disease - liver has a large capacity for metabolism which is hard to diminish with damage, but shunting is important
- renal disease - probably the most important - retention of drug or toxic product
- cardiac disease
- thyroid disease - hyperthyroidism may cause resistance
