Clindamycin
Indications:
- peritonitis
- staphylococcal bone and joint infections
- dental prophylaxis
Cautions:
- pseudomembranous colitis
- diarrhoea
NB. Discontinue AT ONCE if either pseudomembranous colitis or diarrhoea develop.
- impaired hepatic and renal function - clindamycin is excreted in bile and urine
Contra-indications:
- diarrhoeal states
Side-effects:
- pseudomembranous colitis
- diarrhoea
- nausea and vomiting
Routes of administration:
- oral:
- capsules
- suspension
- i.m. injection
- Slow i.v. infusion
