Antimuscarinic drug side effects
The side effects of antimuscarinic drugs include:
- dry mouth with difficulty swallowing and thirst
- dilation of the pupils with difficulty accommodating and sensitivity to light - i.e. blurred vision
- increased intraocular pressure
- hot and flushed skin
- dry skin
- bradycardia followed by tachycardia, palpitations and arrhythmias
- difficulty with micturition - urinary retention
- constipation
More rarely:
- fever
- confusion, mania, hallucinations
- rashes
