Outcome
Acute inflammation may have several sequels:
- spread of acute inflammation e.g.:
- cellulitis
- erysipelas
- lymphadenitis and lymphangitis
- fasciitis
- myositis
- pyaemia
- septicaemia
- resolution: a mild insult may result in limited damage that is completely repaired
- chronic inflammation
- scar formation
- abscess formation
- death
