Duration of the illness is shorter than bacterial gastroenteritis (1).
The presentation of this condition may only be of vomiting. Diarrhoea may not occur for several hours and this may be a watery, profuse stool. The patient may complain of colicky abdominal pain and may have exaggerated bowel sounds on auscultation.
