Treatment
Treatment of retroperitoneal fibrosis involves:
- placement of double J stents to keep the ureters patent
- dissection of ureters from the retroperitoneal fibrosis; also, resiting of the ureters within the peritoneal cavity, to try and prevent recurrence of fibrosis. They may be wrapped in omentum.
- steroid therapy may have a role in suppressing this condition if recurrence occurs. They may reduce oedema.
