Pancreas divisum
During embryological development of the pancreas the ventral and dorsal components of the pancreas may fail to fuse.
The pancreas is either partially or completely divided into two parts. The accessory duct and papilla may fail to drain properly resulting in repeated attacks of acute pancreatitis.
Pancreas divisum may go on to cause chronic pancreatitis.
