Palpation of the stomach and duodenum
The stomach and duodenum are palpated in the epigastrium. Note:
- the tenderness of peptic ulcer disease
- a mass that may signify carcinoma
- in the neonate, the pyloric tumour of pyloric stenosis, best felt after a meal
- a succussion splash in gastric outflow obstruction
