Laboratory events on azathioprine
- leucopaenia <3.5*10^9/l then Stop and seek advice
- neutropaenia <2.5*10^9/l then Stop and seek advice
- thrombocytopaenia <150*10^9/l then Stop and seek advice
- macrocytosis >100 then Check B12 and folate (Dose related)
- sequential falls in WCC or PMNs: >10% on 3 occasions then Stop and seek advice
- sequential falls in platelets: >10% on 3 occasions then Stop unless falls are from a high level, which is a response to treatment
- elevation of LFTs (AST,ALT, not ALP) >3*normal then Stop and repeat LFTs (Mild transaminitis is common)
