Jejunostomy tubes
Jejunostomy tubes are fine bore catheters which are placed surgically or at endoscopy.
The advantages of a jejunostomy tube are:
- feeding can be early after surgery because the small bowel function returns as early as 12 hours post operatively
- they can bypass any upper gastrointestinal tract pathology
