The endoscopic features of ulcerative colitis are:

  • the disease is continuous
  • the rectum is always involved
  • there are no fissures except in fulminating disease
  • inflammatory 'pseudo' polyps common and extensive
  • the skip lesions seen in Crohn's disease are not present
