After a period of 2 weeks, the use of omeprazole 20mg daily led to significantly more healing of duodenal ulcers (42-83%) than patients treated with ranitidine 300mg daily (24-65%). When the treatment regimes were maintained for 4 weeks the respective proportions were 89-97% for omeprazole compared with 63-96% for ranitidine.
