Strategies for keeping up-to-date

Authoring team

The following strategies have been shown to work in keeping practitioners up-to-date:

  • learn how to practice evidence-based medicine
  • look for and apply evidence-based medicine reviews
  • apply evidence-based guidelines developed by colleagues
  • use clinical audit and feedback to find out what you're doing (right or wrong)
  • seek advice from a respected teacher who has learned EBM
  • have visits from non-commercial experts to inform and encourage evidenced-based ways of caring for patients
  • take a mini-sabbatical or preceptorship somewhere where EBM is practised
