Aspirin vs. low MW heparin for acute stroke in AF

Authoring team

DOUBLE-BLIND RANDOMISED STUDY

20% of all ischaemic strokes are caused by embolism due to atrial fibrillation. Patients with AF who have an ischaemic stroke are at a high risk of recurrent stroke.

This trial compared the efficacy of aspirin and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) at preventing recurrent stroke within the first 14 days after the first stroke.
