Chronic pharyngitis is a chronic inflammation of the pharynx.
It is characterised by a persistent dry sore throat. On examination the pharyngeal mucosa is reddened and there may be enlargement of lymphoid nodules on the posterior pharyngeal wall.
Treatment is according to the predisposing factor. If the lymphoid nodules are greatly enlarged then they may be surgically removed.
