Hyperacusis is an exceptionally acute sense of hearing. It is due to paralysis of the nerve to stapedius from the facial nerve.

This condition may occur in:

  • withdrawal from benzodiazepines
  • facial nerve palsy
  • Ramsay Hunt syndrome
