Investigations worth requesting in suspected glomus tumour include:

  • basal skull X-ray - often reveals an osteolytic lesion expanding the jugular foramen

  • CT - confirms the basal skull x-ray

  • angiography - of external carotid artery or vertebral artery - often demonstrates a vascular tumour
