Thyroiditis
The most common and well characterised forms of thyroiditis are:
- Hashimoto's or autoimmune thyroiditis
- De Quervains or subacute granulomatous thyroiditis
- subacute lymphocytic or painless thyroiditis
- Riedel's thyroiditis
Less common and less characterised forms are:
- acute or infective thyroiditis
- infiltrative thyroiditis e.g. sarcoidosis, tuberculosis
