Classification
There are two main types of pseudohypoparathyroidism:
- type I:
- adenylate cyclase is not activated by PTH
- urinary cAMP levels do not rise when PTH is administered
- type II:
- cells fail to respond to the intracellular cAMP signal
- urinary cAMP levels rise when PTH is administered
