Goitrogens
Compounds which may cause goitre include:
- lithium carbonate
- phenylbutazone
- excess iodine
- foods - including cabbage, cassava, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, turnips; but must represent a substantial part of the diet to be clinically significant
- calcium and fluorides in the water supply
