Types of wart
The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) guideline divides HPV-associated warts according to anatomical or morphological grounds into
- common warts - verruca vulgaris
- wart on the sole of the foot, plantar wart (Verruca plantaris)
- flat wart or plane wart (Verruca plana)
- genital wart (Condyloma accuminatum)
- usually sexually transmitted (in children consider possibility of sexual abuse)
- predispose to cervical, penile and vulval cancer
- patients should undergo screening for sexually transmitted infections (1,2)
