Differential diagnosis
Differential diagnosis includes:
- inflammatory conditions e.g. seborrhoeic dermatitis, lichen simplex, nodular prurigo, discoid lupus erythematosus
- premalignant conditions e.g. lentigo maligna, Bowen's disease
- benign conditions e.g. seborrhoeic keratosis, epidermal naevus, keratoacanthoma, chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis
- malignant conditions e.g. squamous cell carcinoma, superficial basal cell carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma
