In cases of pyoderma gangrenosum which are associated with inflammatory bowel disease or haematological disease the skin will often improve as the underlying disorder is controlled.
In many patients specific treatment is required for the pyoderma gangrenosum. The evidence for any of the treatments is weak.
The first step in treatment is using topical agents. If these fail then systemic treatment is required.
