Infections which characteristically produce night sweats include:
- tuberculosis
- brucellosis
- typhus
- enteric fevers - typhoid and paratyphoid
- infective endocarditis
Other causes include:
- thyrotoxicosis
- Hodgkins disease
- oat cell carcinoma of lung
- mesothelioma
