Eccrine poroma is believed to have a number of variants:

  • malignant eccrine poroma:
    • may arise de novo or from transformation of a benign eccrine poroma
    • anaplastic cells showing pagetoid spread but still containing glycogen
    • metastasis is common
  • eccrine poromatosis: multiple lesions on the palms and soles
  • acrosyringeal naevus: linear lesion on leg
