Vagal stimulation
Vagal stimulation may be attempted in stable supraventricular tachycardia.
However, note that these manoeuvres may precipitate other arrhythmias, and some physicians recommend that anyone attempting vagal stimulation should know the whereabouts of the nearest defibrillation machine.
Manoeuvres include:
- carotid sinus massage
- pressing on the closed eyes
- application of ice packs to the face
